Sandy Disaster Relief (Staten Island)
In the time of a disaster volunteers are a critical resource for filling the gap between professional emergency response and community needs. As the city's major hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs Food Bank For New York City is mobilizing volunteers interested in joining us to assist our New York City neighbors affected by the storm.
As the recovery will be a long-term effort, providing volunteers to our member agencies around Staten Island will be essential to recovery efforts.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO:

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO:
- Assist with food and emergency supply distribution
- Assist with meal service to clients
- Assist with unloading emergency food shipments
- Assist with neighborhood clean-up projects
- Assist with clean-up of agencies that have been damaged due to the storm OR in need of straightening up due to high volumes of client visits
- Assist with administrative tasks such as phone calls/emails to survey member agency needs
- Assist with other adhoc duties as they arise
NOTE:
- Please dress warm or with layers as we can not guarantee that you will be inside or outside upon arrival.
- Please eat before you arrive and bring a snack/food and water to ensure you have something to eat.
