Emergency Disaster Relief Mobile School Pantries

You can make a direct impact on the lives of hungry children and families in our community that were directly impacted by Hurricane Sandy!  The Food Bank is coordinating emergency grocery distributions through a mobile food pantry at high-need public schools that were directly affected by the storm.  Each child will leave school with a pantry bag of groceries to help make ends meet for families devastated by the hurricane. 


Volunteers are needed to:

Volunteers with our Emergency Disaster Relief Pantries will help to unload the truck shipment, sort food, and arrange to-go style pantry bags, putting food directly into the hands of children in need! This volunteer opportunity is great for individuals, small groups and/or corporate groups looking to give direct, personal service in a fun, energetic environment. 

 

What to wear?

Volunteers should wear closed shoes or sneakers and comfortable warm clothes, such as jeans, tee-shirts, sweaters and sweatshirts. For groups of volunteers, we recommend you wear a team color or your corporate tee-shirts.
