COMMITTED VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Every week we need nearly 800 volunteers to serve the 1 in 5 New Yorkers that rely on Food Bank's emergency food network. Join Food Bank For New York City as an honorary member of our Volunteer Engagement team. This team of individuals will work in various capacities to ensure the successful execution of our work and those who help us to achieve it – volunteers!
You will have the opportunity to be one of a team of enthusiastic leaders, develop relationships with other supportive volunteers, and engage New Yorkers and gain skills and experience in leadership and project management.
AVAILABLE ROLES INCLUDE:
Food Bank For New York City needs 800 volunteers each week. Do you have a knack for researching and recruiting? We could use your help engaging groups of all kinds to volunteer with Food Bank! You will assist with research, phone calls, in person visits and follow-up. From time to time you will help canvass high traffic areas and table at various institutions to recruit volunteers. Periodically, this role will assist with answering the phone and emails.
Are you good at public speaking, friendly and love great customer service? This role will help us receive volunteers when they arrive for a volunteer shift. This involves greeting volunteers as they enter the building, facilitating the sign-in process, answering volunteer questions, providing volunteers with an overview, escorting volunteers to their assignments and thanking them before they leave. You will scan and submit all volunteer sign-in sheets to volunteer reservations and booking agent. Take photos and ensure they are sent to staff to be saved on server and posted on social.
Do you love numbers; ensuring information is always up to date and accurate; possibly like technology? Daily, the volunteer engagement team is called upon to share numbers on volunteer participation. But mostly, we use the numbers to gain insight on what we’re doing well and what we can improve. The data administrator role supports the volunteer engagement team with ensuring that all records are up to date. Additionally, they will make sure that volunteers who need verification letters receive them. This role will assist with answering the phone and emails.
Customer service your thing? Do you always like to be well informed? Are you very detail oriented? This role is for you! This role will assist Volunteer Engagement Booking & Reservations to ensure that volunteers are being contacted prior to projects; all relevant information is submitted; and ensure volunteers have all details needed prior to the project. This role will also help follow-up with groups after the project to check if they had a good experience. This role will assist with answering the phone and emails.
Length of Committed Volunteer Position: 4 months with an option to renew
