Become a Food Bank Volunteer

Volunteers play a central role in powering Food Bank’s mission. Whether filing tax returns for low-income New Yorkers, writing a letter of hope to our pantry clients, or advocating through social media, you can make an impact in many ways with Food Bank For New York City!

All in-person volunteer projects will provide an onsite volunteer orientation. Simply register for an upcoming shift, review the project details and show up ready to lend a hand!

Food Bank for New York City has implemented regulations, policies, and protocols that will be continually updated and revised in accordance with on-going public health information and official guidance from the CDC, New York State Department of Health and New York City Department of Health. All volunteers must agree to our current COVID-19 Waiver in order to participate in-person.

Although some of our programming remains on-pause, we are thrilled to welcome volunteers back to our Community Kitchen and Pantry in West Harlem for Grab-and-Go Distribution shifts in Spring 2022. Please check the Volunteer Calendar for up-to-date availability.
